Mir Mukhtiyar Ali

Mir Mukhtiyar Ali, a Sufi music maestro from Pugal, Rajasthan, belongs to the 26th generation of the semi-nomadic Miras community of the Thar Desert. Trained by his father, he blends the earthy soul of folk with classical depth, creating transcendent music. Despite economic challenges and globalization, he keeps sufiyana kalaam alive, performing globally and collaborating with artists like Mathias Duplessy and Shabnam Virmani. His evocative voice has been a part of films such as Ship of Theseus and Finding Fanny. Mukhtiyarā€™s repertoire spans Kafi, Qawwali, Ghazals, and Kabir Vani, inspired by the rich traditions of Rajasthan and Punjab.
