The Nimad Project

In 2021, amidst the pandemic, two musicians embarked on a journey across Nimad, Madhya Pradesh, documenting its rich folk traditions. Transforming a village hut into a recording studio, Jayesh and Bharat spent over a month capturing the regionā€™s diverse musical styles, creating a music album that celebrates Indiaā€™s folk heritage. Their journey evolved into a cultural collaboration, culminating in the album being mixed by their idol, Ben Findlay, renowned for working with artists like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Peter Gabriel. In 2023, Creative Director Warren de Sylva helped reimagine the album as a live experience, Nimad. This immersive show blends Nimadi folk music with visual storytelling, featuring original folk musicians and introducing audiences to the culture, traditions, and artistry of the region.
